London Event back in the City at the Minories pub under the railway arches

Welcome to the London event of September, the premium monthly geocaching events in central London. All are invited to attend whether you work, rest or pray in the capital. Meet up with friendly cachers for a long chat about all things caching. The Minories pub is situated under the railway arches just outside Fenchurch Street station. A wide range of food and drinks are served throughout the duration of the event. 
 

History - The Minories takes its name after the Abbey of the Minoresses of St Clare without Aldgate, a monastery of Franciscan sisters living an enclosed life. The women of this abbey were members of the Order of St Clare. The abbey was errected in the 13th century just outside the City walls with the first sisters arriving from France. Following the dissolution of the abbeys in 1536 saw the abbey used as a residential property for various Londoners until it was demolished in 1797. By accident in 1964 the body of Ann de Mowbray, 8th Countess of Norfolk, who died at the aged of eight, was unearthed and rebuiried in Westminster Abbey. The name Miniories lives on as a reminder what was once on this site, now in the City of London.
