Geocache Description:

Since opening its port in 1868, Kobe has flourished as a historic port city, welcoming a wide variety of Western cultures as a major gateway to Japan.
Standing right next to this cache is the "Former Kobe Port Signal Tower," a historic structure erected at the Shinko Pier No. 1 in 1921. In those days, it protected the safety of Kobe Port by sending signals to arriving and departing ships using flags and lights. After retiring from active service in 1990, it was relocated to the current Harbor Walk for preservation.
The cache is quietly hidden with a magnet near the map display, close to this historic signal tower and the deck overlooking the sea.
Enjoy your search beneath the signal tower that once watched over sailors, while immersing yourself in the beautiful seascape and the port's history. As this area sees very high tourist traffic, please practice extreme stealth when retrieving and replacing the container. Bring your own pen (BYOP).
