Long before geocaching built a worldwide community of explorers, the humble postcard was already helping people discover the world and connect with one another.

On September 30, 2026, we're gathering at Provin Trails Park to celebrate World Postcard Day — just one day before the official celebration on October 1!

Geocaching and postcards have a lot in common. Both encourage us to explore new places, share experiences, and turn ordinary destinations into memorable adventures. Whether you're signing a cache log or writing a message on a postcard, you're connecting with someone through the joy of discovery.

✉️ A Postcard from Australia!

Here's what makes this event special:

The postcards are coming from Australia! 🇦🇺

Through a special pre-event postcard exchange with our Australian counterpart, postcards will make their way from Australia to Grand Rapids before the event.

At the event, you'll receive one of these special postcards and have the opportunity to write a message and add your name before sending it on to its next destination. It's a unique way to connect geocachers across continents and create a postcard adventure that began in Australia and continues right here in Michigan.

No postcard? No problem! Postcards will be provided for attendees.

If you've collected postcards during your own travels, you're also welcome to bring them along to share.

🌎 World Postcard Day 2026 Souvenir

World Postcard Day is celebrated every year on October 1. Since 2019, the celebration has encouraged people around the world to write, mail, and exchange postcards while keeping the tradition of handwritten correspondence alive.

Geocaching is celebrating with a special World Postcard Day 2026 souvenir!

You can earn the souvenir by:

• Attending any geocaching event and posting an Attended log between September 27 and October 4, 2026, OR
• Finding and logging a Letterbox Hybrid between September 27 and October 4, 2026.

Our event on September 30 falls right in the middle of the souvenir qualification period, so come join us!
