Let's Get Outdoors #60: A view worthy of a Postcard (a CITO)!
For the last two years, I've picked some pretty scenic spots for my September event as a Geocaching has sponsored a week of souvenir opportunity related to World Postcard Day. This year is no different, but why not earn two souvenirs at one time and pick up some trash while we're enjoying one of Richmond's scenice views?
Who knows what we'll find. I was in this area on Aug 21, and it could definitley use our help then. Even up on the overlook at the top of the spiral bridge there was enough trash to fill a small garbage bag. But between then and Sept 24 things might change. Just the same, I'm sure there will be something to pick up. I've ramped the T level up on this one because there's a lot of opporunty to clean up in the rocks below the overlook as well.
I'll bring trash bags and some bottle water. You bring the gloves and if you have them some trash grabbers (I'm down to only having the one I use). I don't plan to venture past the 14th street bridge, just focus mostly on the park around the spiral bridge, the overlook itself, and the area just below the overlook.
To get to the meeting point at the posted coords, turn at the stoplight closest to the floodwall. From off of the 14th Street Bridge it's a right turn, from Manchester it's a left turn. Once on the side street the turn in for the lot is on the right.
