Have you every heard about the Paulding Lights Phenomena in northern Michigan? On Highway US 45 near Paulding, Michigan there is an area where almost every night there are mysterious flashing lights. These lights were first seen in the 1960’s. There are three different folklores attached to this. One being it is the ghost of a brakeman that was killed while trying to stop an oncoming train from hitting some parked railway cars on the tracks. The second is that this is a Native American dancing on the powerlines that run through the valley. The third is that some grandparents are looking for their lost grandchild. They had to continually relight their lantern and that is why the lights appear to go on and off. In 2010 a group of Michigan Tec students set out to try to prove why the lights appear. They determined while using a telescope that the lights were coming from cars traveling on US highway 45. No matter which theory you believe it sounds like it would be an interesting place to visit and the inspiration for this cache.
