Come and join Geocaching SA as we kick off a fantastic weekend of geocaching fun on the beautiful Yorke Peninsula!
Our first gathering for the weekend will be a relaxed evening event at the Troubridge Hotel in Edithburgh. After travelling down the peninsula, checking into your accommodation and possibly collecting a few caches along the way, this will be the perfect opportunity to settle in and meet everyone before the weekend’s adventures begin.
Join us for a meal or a drink while catching up with familiar faces, welcoming visiting geocachers and planning the caches you want to tackle over the weekend. Bring along your trackables for swapping or discovery, share your Yorke Peninsula caching stories and perhaps pick up a helpful hint or two from the locals.
The Troubridge Hotel will have meals and drinks available for attendees to purchase. There is no requirement to purchase anything to attend the event. If you intend to have a meal, please mention this and the number of people in your Will Attend log so we can give the hotel an indication of numbers.
This event forms part of Dazzatron’s EXPLORE The Yorke 2 weekend, with more events, activities and opportunities to explore the peninsula continuing throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Whether you are a Yorke Peninsula local, travelling over for the weekend or attending your first geocaching event, you are very welcome to join us.

Yorke Peninsula Geocaching History
The Yorke Peninsula has been part of South Australia’s geocaching story since 2001.
The first caches placed on the peninsula were Yarrabee Park (GC2909) and Gulf-View (GC290B), both hidden by Team Piggy on 19 November 2001 near Kulpara.
A few months later, Yorke’s First (GC3637) by Sam and Jedda and She’ll Be Right! (GC3608) by Liz and Bruce appeared on the southern Yorke Peninsula. Liz and Bruce also placed the peninsula’s first multi-cache, Butlers Revenge (GC360A), the following day.
One of the area’s early geocaching events was the SA-Geocachers Summer BBQ (GC937B), held north of Paskeville on 1 December 2002 and attended by 20 teams.
The Yorke Peninsula has also hosted South Australia’s long-running June Long Weekend Event three times—at Maitland in 2009, Kadina in 2011 and Edithburgh in 2017.
