Every ten miles down the blacktop, right past the co-op grain elevator and just before the county line, there she stands. A fluorescent monument to convenience planted firmly in a sea of loose gravel. It is the cultural epicenter of the township the only place within twenty miles where you can simultaneously purchase a frozen pizza, a greeting card from 2004, and a garden gnome.
It radiates a low-frequency hum into the evening air, drawing moth-like locals in Ford Rangers and half-ton Chevys who needed "just one thing" and walked out with two bags of plastic junk and a gallon of chocolate milk.
Your mission requires braving the perimeter of this towering pillar of retail therapy. Sidestep the stray shopping cart abandoned near the asphalt edge, mind the teenager leaning against a pickup tailgate, and drop down low to inspect the very foundation holding up the neon skies. Feel around the heavy steel posts anchoring this temple of commerce, grab the container, and tuck it back in tighter than a fresh bale of hay in August.
