About SideTracked Caches
This simple Wherigo cache (BYOP!) belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More information can be found at the SideTracked Website.
About the Cache
We've all been there - a train delay, with nothing to do but read the news (depressing) or play a game on your mobile (satisfaction levels may vary). But let's be semantic: in most cases you won't actually be mobile. This cache is an opportunity to change that!
The best parking if coming by car is the shopping centre, particularly the outdoor-lot in the south-west corner (albeit not at busy times).
About the Cartridge
You can download the cartridge here. After starting the Wherigo cartridge in your chosen app you will move to a playing area; once you have won two games you will be provided with the co-ordinates for the container.
Please be aware that the Wherigo ecosystem is dated and fragile, so although I have tried to make the cartridge as robust as possible and have tested on both iOS and Android I cannot guarantee that it won't act up.
About Macquarie University Station
Macquarie University railway station is a station located on the Metro North West Line serving the Sydney suburb of Macquarie Park, including Macquarie University (Australia's only university with a railway station on campus) and Macquarie Centre shopping nightmare centre. It was formerly part of the T1 Northern Line after it was opened in 2009 before being converted to Metro use in 2019 when the first Sydney Metro line was opened (and what a success it has been!) It ranks 3rd in the Metro network with about 1M Opal entries per quarter.
About Wherigos
To take part in this adventure you will need a Wherigo player on your phone (e.g. Wherigo on iOS, c:geo / Whereyougo or Geooh Go on Android), or if you're old-school a Garmin Colorado or Garmin Oregon. You can go to the Wherigo site to download the cartridge. If using a phone select the Pocket PC option.
Please provide feedback on the experience and the cache condition in your logs. Bring your own pen!
Congratulations to ? on the FTF!
