Welcome to the Timber Industry Museum and Wondai Visitor Centre, where the history of the South Burnett’s timber industry is preserved and shared with visitors.

As part of Geocaching Queensland’s CacheFest ’26, this Letterbox Cache has been placed within the museum precinct with the full knowledge and support of the museum’s volunteers.

The timber industry played an important role in the development of Wondai and the surrounding region. The museum provides an opportunity to discover more about the people, machinery, tools and techniques that shaped this important part of the district’s history.

Take some time to explore the displays and appreciate the stories behind the objects you’ll find here. The museum is more than simply a place to look at old machinery—it helps preserve the working history of the region for future generations.

The Cache

This is a Letterbox Hybrid Cache and is located within the Timber Industry Museum and Wondai Visitor Centre.

Important: This cache is only available during the museum's normal opening hours. 9am-4pm on weekdays and 9am-1pm on weekends. Please do not attempt to access the cache outside these hours. That would be breaking and entering.

The cache has been placed with the full knowledge of the museum volunteers. Please respect the museum, its displays and other visitors while searching. There is no need to move, climb over or interfere with museum exhibits, perhaps if you just ask.

Once you have located the letterbox, sign the logbook and, if you wish, use the stamp to record the letterbox image in your personal geocaching journal. Please leave the stamp in the cache for the next cacher.

While you are here, take the opportunity to look around, chat with the volunteers and learn a little more about Wondai's timber heritage.

We hope this cache adds another dimension to your visit and allows you to experience a small piece of the history that helped shape the South Burnett.
