Geocache Description:

To log this EarthCache, here is what you need to do:

In your opinion, what form do quartz crystals take?

In accordance with the 2019 guidelines, a photo of yourself inside the church is required. Log this cache as "Found it" and send me your answers—either via my profile or the geocaching.com messaging system (Message Center)—and I will contact you if there is an issue.

This is a T5 water-based cache; a canoe-style vessel is required.
Swimming to the breakwater is strictly prohibited!

Here, we focus on quartz:

Quartz is a mineral belonging to the silicate group—specifically the tectosilicate subgroup—composed of silicon dioxide (silica) with the chemical formula SiO2, containing traces of various elements such as Al, Li, B, Fe, Mg, Ca, Ti, Rb, Na, and OH.

It appears either as large crystals—which may be colorless, colored, or smoky—or as microscopic, translucent crystals.

Making up 12% (by mass) of the lithosphere, quartz is the most common mineral in the Earth's crust (oxygen and silicon are the first and second most abundant constituents of the lithosphere, respectively). It is a major component of granite and granitoids (where it typically appears in anhedral form), granitic metamorphic rocks (gneiss, quartzite), and certain sedimentary rocks (sand, sandstone). While very rare in extraterrestrial rocks, it has been found on Mars.
