From 1875 to 1896, Parker presided over a court that sentenced 160 people to death. Seventy-nine men were executed during his tenure, earning him a place in frontier legend.
Parker did not personally pull the lever or watch the executions. The condemned met their fate under the authority of the law, carried out by the U.S. Marshals. Yet their stories—and the dark reputation of the gallows—have endured long after the last rope fell silent.
