Geocache Description:

When you log this find, please email me the correct answers to the following questions:
1. What was the date on the coin found during restoration of the Taylor House?
2. How many inmates escaped from Raymond Jail during its years of operation?

In the early 1850's, Europeans began to settle along the Fresno River. An area a short distance below the river's headwaters soon became known as Fresno Flats. Through thousands of hours of volunteer labor, the Sierra Historic Sites Association has recaptured the spirit of foothill and mountain family life during the late 1800's and early 1900's. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk.

This cache may be a short detour on your way to Bass Lake or Yosemite National Park or the start of a great day spent exploring the Fresno River via the adjacent Oakhurst River Parkway. ORP trail info & map: (visit link)

Be sure to allow a few extra minutes to view the "Seasons of Life" mural at 37°19.742N 119°38.976W, which was created by Yosemite High School students in partnership with the Timberline Gallery.
