While visiting the Three Gorges Dam Project in China, take a short walk in the park to find this micro-cache.
If you visit China's massive Three Gorges Dam Project along the Yangtze River, take a ten minute walk in the newly created rock garden and look for this micro-cache.
Just a few steps away from the Dam's visitor's center is a brand new park with lots of footpaths that lead to the edge of the construction project and yield amazing panoramic views of the spillway and the hydroelectric generator stations. It is well worth the few minutes it takes to make the circuit.
The cache, a black film container, is placed in such a fashion that you don't need to leave the trail to find it. The park was totally empty the day we were here, but I imagine that on a warm day it could be loaded with tourists and security people -- so be careful to not arouse their suspicion.
The world's largest construction project is not the place to be seen randomly thrashing around with sophisticated electronics in your hand. To make it easier on yourself, I suggest that you take a look at the hint and the spoiler photo before you attempt this one. If the crowds are too large, just forget about this one and do the nearby virtual cache.
This is a "sign only" cache. You find it, sign the log, and put it back. Be sure to bring your own pencil.
Only authorized tour groups are able to visit the dam site, but if you're vacationing in the Yangtze area, you'll probably end up here. Enjoy!
