Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have once again been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time.

As you know, you may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing.

I hope this cache is not gone for too long.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

[red] When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting. [/red]

Having caches marked as “temporally disabled” for extended periods of time is very irritating to local cachers because these caches will still show up on their TO-DO cache lists.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the near future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Glenn, you friendly, but possibly not too popular Geocaching.com admin.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

TRAVEL BUG ONLY cache - There are no items for trade in the cache. PLEASE DO NOT PICK UP TRAVEL BUGS IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO LOG THEM ONLINE AT WWW.GEOCACHING.COM!

The goal is to provide a cache where travel bugs can easily be dropped off and picked up. Access is very quick and easy for people near KCI (known as MCI to airline people). All visitors are welcome, however, even if they do not want to pick up or leave a travel bug.

If you have any questions about the cache or travel bugs, look at www.geocaching.com, and in the forums, particularly.

The cache is an oversized 50 caliber ammo box tied to a manmade structure. It is held in place by a white nylon rope that has metal (stringer) clips to hold the box. The rope goes around a portion of a culvert (stormwater drain), with the box hanging inside the culvert. The rope is visible around the center post, so you can "reel in" the box.

Suggested Drop-off Rules:

  • Write entry in logbook - one page per travel bug
    • Specify name of the travel bug
    • Specify the travel bug’s main goal if possible
    • Specify your name
    • Specify the Date and Time you dropped off the travel bug
    • (Leave space below on page for someone to log its pickup)
  • If you want to take a picture of yourself with the travel bug(s), you may do so with the camera. Let me know if the camera is getting low on film. When I get the film developed, I will try to post all the pictures.
  • Enter a log online for this cache and specify the travel bug(s) you dropped off
    • Please DO NOT enter the number on the metal tag where others will see it
    • Please DO enter the bug's name and reference number (you find it in the upper left corner of the travel bug’s page on www.geocaching.com)

Suggested Pick-up Rules:

  • Try to only pick up travel bugs you can help on their journey. You should be able to see their goals by reading the logbook.
  • You may pick up more than one travel bug, but don’t pick up all of them unless there is only one in the cache.
  • Update the logbook entry for each bug you pick up
    • Specify your name
    • Specify the date and time you visited
  • Enter a log online for this cache and specify that you picked up the travel bug(s)
    • Please DO NOT enter the number on the metal tags where others will see them.
    • Please DO enter each travel bug's name and reference number (you can find it in the upper left corner of the travel bug’s page on www.geocaching.com)
  • Enter a Travel Bug Pickup log for each travel bug you picked up. You can do this by clicking on the travel bug's name (upper right of this page).
