The Cache is hidden in Kiser Lake State Park. First cache to be hidden in Champaign County that I know of. It is hidden about 30 feet off a main trail.
Hike is about 1/4 mile in. Elevation is approximately 1168 feet. Cache is fairly easy to get to but may increase in difficulty as weeds begin to grow. Always remember to check where you stick your hands or walk during summer months for your own protection and the lands. Good chance to see some wildlife in this area as a lot of deer populate this park.
Kiser Lake is a small park with a lake about 396 acres in size with swimming, fishing, sailing, camping and hiking. No motors are allowed on lake so if you are bringing your boat to enjoy make sure you bring your paddles. There is hiking all around the lake and can be accessed from North, South and West sides of lake but no single road leads you all the way around. Your preferred parking coordinates are N 040* 10.926 and W083* 57.596 this is in the group camp area. To access this take rt 36 into St. Paris to intersection of Springfield St. and Rt 36 and head north. This will come into the south end of park and group camp area is to your left. The trail you are looking for is Possum Hollow/ Pine Tree trail. Make your best decision which is the right one as they both start at the same place then split off. Enjoy the sights and area and please be sure to practice the Cache in Trash out policy although it is pretty clean now. Be sure not to impose any changes or damage to surrounding area. Have fun.
