Mt. Wrightson is one of the finest summits in southern Arizona. With the summit altitude at 9456 ft, one can see for miles in all directions. On a clear day Baboquivari Peak and Picacho Peak are easily identifiable. Here is a nice website with lots of details about the hike: http://www.azstarnet.com/~aflach/HIKE20.HTM .

The cache is a NGS marker and a summit photo. I made this cache a virtual because I do not know the status of leaving a cache in a Wilderness Area. Despite my belief that a cache hidden at the top of a mountain, with an established trail and a high volume of hikers, is not going to change the ecosystem, I decided to play it safe.
To claim this cache you must do two things: (1) upload a picture of the NGS disk (CG1050) WITH your GPSr next to it and (2) upload a picture of you and/or your GPSr at the summit plaque. The coordinates provided are at the disk and are from my GPSr (WGS84). You do not need coordinates for the summit plaque, it will be obvious.

(12/06/03) It appears that the summit benchmark is now missing, so the photo at the summit plaque (with GPSr) is all that is required to claim cache.
