Ultimate Destination Geocache Multi-Cache

This cache combines Traditional Geocaching and Benchmark Hunting. Your mission, if you choose to accept, is to gather information from two benchmarks in order to determine your Ultimate Destination for the day, i.e. the Ultimate Destination Geocache.

There are two ways to start this one. For a nice taste of the San Rafael Hill area begin at N34 11.804 W118 12.315. For a "Cache & Dash", jet over to N34 11.257 W118 12.417

Your first Destination will be N34 11.245 W118 12.460, i.e. the Cerro Negro Triangulation Station Disk. Don't forget to log your visit :-) This monument was set in 19??. Take the last two digits of the year and add them to N34 11.410 to get the latitude of your Ultimate Destination. If you can't read the year on the disk, use a number between 33 and 35 :-)

Your next Destination will be N34 11.245 W118 12.471, i.e. Cerro Negro Reference Mark 2. This monument was set in 19??. Take the last two digits of the year and add them to W118 12.334 to get the longitude of your Ultimate Destination

Enter this new latitude/longitude as a waypoint and head on out to your Ultimate Destination. Look for a backyard observatory on the way! The cache is an ammo can encircled by a corrugated metal ring. Good luck and enjoy!
