Die Weidelsburg liegt auf einem von weitem sichtbaren Basaltkegel (492 NN) zwischen Ippinghausen u. Naumburg.Sie ist die größte Burganlage in Nordhessen.Im 13. Jahrhundert galt sie als Wachtpostenüber der alten Straße zwischen Köln-Kassel- Thüringen u. Sachsen.
Wie viele Burgen hat sie eine wechselvolleGeschichte hinter sich und es gibt auch einige Legenden u. Sagen. Z.B."über die hessische Weibertreue."
