Geocache Description:

A cache in a county park that combines elements of geocaching and orienteering in order to find the treasure

There are two elements to this hunt. This first element requires the use of a GPS to locate the starting point for the second element. That point is a rock cairn. The second element is finding the cache via an orienteering leg. The map and legend to be used for the orienteering leg are attached and should be printed for the hunt. The rock cairn is located in the triangle, the cache is located in the circle. The orienteering map is reproduced with the permission of Hudson Valley Orienteering Club. If you like the orienteering element check out HVO at this web site. The site will also provide links to pages where you can learn about orienteering and how to do it if you are not familiar with it and want to give this a try. The orienteering leg is rated at the green (intermediate) level of difficulty.

There is some great booty in the ammo can cache courtesy of American Terrain in White Plains, NY. They have supplied some excellent prizes and discount coupons for the first 8 cachers to find the treasure. If you have fun be sure to thank them for supporting geocaching. They are at 175 East Post Road in White Plains or on the web.

The cache is well hidden so it may take some looking to locate it. Please do not post coordinates for the cache as the purpose of this cache is to add the skill element of map navigation to the hunt. I have based the terrain and difficulty ratings upon the need to use this skill. For those up for a real challenge combine this cache with the Saxon Woods Cache (waypoint GCC83). If you want a multisport challenge go for the Saxon Woods Cache by mountain bike and the Saxon Woods Ge-"O"-Cache by foot.

The map is a copyrighted material of Hudson Valley Orienteering. HVO has authorized the use of the map section for the limited purpose of seeking this cache. Use of it is limited to that purpose. By using the map you agree to use it solely for that purpose.

Thanks to G-Man and the Claw for their help with the placements Note: There is an error in the map, the W for west and the E for east are transposed. OOPS! North/South orientation are correct so north lines on map can be used for orienteering.
