Located off Hwy. 278 on Spann-Hammond Road in the historical section of Beech Island. When our two girls were small we called this place "Sleepy Hollow" and would tell them ghost stories about it. It really was a frightful place at night. Don't worry, because now it is Spann-Hammond Park, and is well lighted and maintained by the Aiken County Parks and Recreation Dept. It is a great place to just stop and relax or bring your family for a quiet picnic.
The cache is located just off of the trail that circles the pond. It is in an ammo can painted with camo colors. It is completely covered so as not to be discovered by non-cachers.
Please remember while in the woods be on the look out for poisonous plants, snakes, vines, insects that bite or sting, and un-even terrain.
Please help keep the park clean by removing any trash that you may find during your visit. Remember to: "Leave No Trace". Permission was obtained to place this cache.
The historical First Beech Island Baptist Church is within sight of the park, and the old Beech Island Agriculture Club is up the same road as the park about 100 yards. The historical marker for the club is at the end of Spann-Hammond Road at Hwy 278. You might want to visit these while you are near.
Redcliffe State Historical Site is up the hill about a mile off Hwy 278. The sign is on the right side of Hwy 278 at Hammond Rd.
Also located at the top of the hill on Hwy 278 is historical AllSaints Episcopal Church. Woodrow Wilson's wife attended church there as a young lady.
