Geocache Description:

Easy walk across desert ground. Car accessible on good dirt roads.

There are many interesting tales about what is buried somewhere in these dunes. Our favorite story is about a man called "Lucky" who was traveling in the late 1880's with a wagon load of whiskey. He had several kegs of 100% proof whiskey that he was bringing from California to various mining camps. He was caught in a massive wind storm & the wagon was eventually buried in the dunes. Lucky traveled by foot (he let his 4 mules go free during the storm) to Beatty and told the locals what had happened. This area was searched & searched but the wagon was never found. Many thirsty miners had searched this area for years and the wagon load of whiskey has never been found.

These massive dunes are 60% silica, 20% feldspar, 20% calcite and other local minerals. Do not get too close to them in a vehicle as you may get stuck.

The cache is in a clear plastic tupperware type container with a log book & the following items:
I Piggy
Floating keychain flashlight
Incense & holder
Binaca blasters
Miracle Star towel
Calculator
Stretch lizards
Lava hand cleaner towels
A tin of marbles
Tonka jeep die cast car
The "American Flag" TB that wants to visit every state in the United States.
