Geocache Description:

Overlooked Overlook

About a hundred years ago thirsty Tucsonans started talking about building a huge dam in upper Sabino Canyon. In the thirties the feds approved the project which would have poured millions into Tucson, with the hitch that the locals would have to come up with $500k. Lucky for us, they couldn't afford it. If they had, they would have killed the canyon and its' eco system. Instead we got a much much scaled down version, which quickly filled up with silt.

The cache site was probably quite popular back when cars could still drive the canyon. Now, it's an often overlooked overlook.

To avoid bushwaking, go to 32 18' 56", 110 49' 00" first
