Geocache Description:

Located in Bancroft near to Milton Keynes in Bucks is the settlement of a Roman Empire, lost in time in what perhaps is the most interesting location this side of the Bucks border.

The Roman landscape in the Milton Keynes area was a settled, intensely farmed rural area, with a mixture of native farmsteads and romanised villas. Within two kilometres of Bancroft, two villa sites (Stantonbury and Wymbush) and two native farmsteads (one on Abbey Hill Golf Course, and one between Heelands and Bradwell Common) have also been discovered. The inhabitants of the "Roman" villas were probably natives copying the Roman lifestyle, not new settlers.

Whats interesting about this settlement is how the Romans hunted there farmstead. It seems they hunted and left the remains of several prey in a field a short walk from their home. Follow the path in the opposite direction until it ends for an amazing discovery!

These can be seen today, stood in time as if by magic. The cows originally hunted by the romans for their Sunday Lunch remain uneaten and ready to be seen by all.

Stuffed with clay it would seem, these Romans sure knew how to have a banquet!

Julias Caeser would be proud! They said Moo and the Romans saw food. I think it beats Grapes.

Happy Hunting, and in the name of Julias Caeser: I say MOO MOO MOOSTER!.
