Pyynikki Ridge Multi-cache

Finally: please use only the clear, ready-made paths in the area, so do not take short cuts through the forest unless there is some kind of a trail there. Thousands of people visit Pyynikki ridge every year, and it's important to preserve the fragile soil by not harming the undergrowth. That's also why the cache is micro size; it fits easily in many places along the paths. The complete protection regulations of the area can be found here. Also, be very careful when walking on the cliffs and various stairs in the area, they are slippery in the wintertime and also in summer if they're wet.

Please be careful not to reveal the cache location to other people in the area!

Point 1.
The first coordinates bring you to an ice age memorial stone. The ancient shoreline of the Baltic Sea used to be right where you're standing now. The next coordinates: N 61° 29.X where X = 903 - the ELEVATION according to the memorial stone and E 023° 43.Y where Y= the FIRST YEAR mentioned on the stone - 5873.

Point 2.
You are supposed to be in front of a building. The coordinates to the next point are N 61° 29.X where X = the YEAR above the entrance of the building - 1220 and E 023° 43.Y where Y = the YEAR when the memorial stone was erected - 1696.

Point 3.
You arrive to an odd concrete construction. Take a look at a niche on the southern wall. The final coordinates to the cache itself are N 61° 29.X where X = 653 + the number of the COLUMNS at the entrance of the building at the Point 2. + the SMALLEST NUMBER you saw on the memorial stone at the Point 1. + the number of the PIPES in the niche and E 023° 43.Y where Y = 684 / the number of BIGGER PIPES in the niche.

The cache is a film canister, and you don't have to remove any objects (like stones, branches etc.) to find it. Enjoy the view!

The canister contains initially:
- A cat-shaped brooch from Aarikka
- A small snake
- 1 Hong Kong dollar
- A pencil and a log book

Itse kätkö on neljän pisteen multikätkö. Lue ohjeet huolella ennen kuin lähdet liikkeelle, sillä joudut keräämään varsin paljon tietoa matkan varrella ja käyttämään sitä eri kohdissa seuraavien pisteiden laskemiseksi. Pimeällä saattaa taskulamppu olla hyödyksi, ja talvella saatat tarvita jääraappaa ja/tai harjaa.

Lopuksi: käytäthän vain selkeitä valmiiksi tallottuja polkuja harjualueella, eli älä oikaise metsän läpi, jollei paikalla kulje jonkinnäköistä polkua. Pyynikillä käy vuosittain tuhansia ihmisiä, ja haurasta harjumaaperää tulee suojella antamalla aluskasvillisuuden olla rauhassa. Tästä syystä kätkökin on mikrokokoa; sen saa helposti piiloon tällaisessakin maastossa. Täydelliset rauhoitusmääräykset löytyvät täältä. Ole varovainen liikkuessasi alueen kallioilla ja portailla, jotka ovat liukkaat talvisin ja myös kesäisin märkinä.

Piste 1.
Ensimmäiset koordinaatit johtavat jääkauden muistokivelle. Muinainen Itämeren rantaviiva kulki juuri tässä kohdassa. Seuraavat koordinaatit: N 61° 29.X jossa X = 903 - KORKEUS MERENPINNASTA muistokiven mukaan ja E 023° 43.Y jossa Y = ENSIMMÄINEN kivessä mainittu VUOSILUKU - 5873.

Piste 2.
Sinun pitäisi olla rakennuksen edessä. Seuraavan pisteen koordinaatit ovat N 61° 29.X jossa X = rakennuksen sisäänkäynnin yläpuolella oleva VUOSILUKU - 1220 ja E 023° 43.Y jossa Y = muistokiven PYSTYTTÄMISVUOSI - 1696.

Piste 3.
Saavut oudolle betonirakennelmalle. Kurkkaa eteläseinän syvennykseen. Kätkön lopulliset koordinaatit ovat N 61° 29.X jossa X = 653 + piste 2:n rakennuksen sisäänkäynnin kohdalla olevien PYLVÄIDEN MÄÄRÄ + pisteen 1. muistokivessä ollut PIENIN LUKU + syvennyksessä olevien PUTKIEN MÄÄRÄ ja E 023° 43.Y jossa Y = 684 / syvennyksessä olevien ISOMPIEN PUTKIEN MÄÄRÄ.
