Geocache Description:


Die frühmittelalterliche Ertheneburg wurde 1026 erstmals erwähnt. Sie beherrschte den Elbübergang der "Alten Salzstraße" und war somit strategisch von großer Bedeutung. Herzog Heinrich der Löwe hielt sich mehrmals hier auf und setzte sie 1181 auf der Flucht vor Kaiser Friedrich I (Barbarossa) in Brand. Die Burg erscheint heute als bogenförmiger Ringwall umgeben von einem Graben.

Inhalt: Mini-Logbuch, Knicklicht, bunte Büroklammern, schwedische Münze

The medieval castle Ertheneburg was mentioned the first time in 1026. It controlled a crossing-point over the river Elbe and was of great strategic importance. Today the castle appears as a ring-wall surrounded by a ditch.
