Geocache Description:

Located only 130 feet off FS 475B with a wonderful view summer or winter.

Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 64 and Hwy 276 in Pisgah Forest, drive north on Hwy 276 for 5.2 miles, then turn left onto FS 475. Drive 1.6 miles and turn right onto FS 475B. Proceed 3.17 miles to the parking area at N35 18.680 W082 47.878.

The cache location provides you with a beautiful view of Looking Glass Rock and the Nose, a favorite climb for many local rock climbers. When we arrived we had the opportunity to watch 6 climbers PICk their way up the Nose. (Although it doesn't SOUND very proper, it WAS facinating to watch!)

The cache is placed 110 feet from the parking area, just off the trailhead marked, "North Face Trail." The views offset the lack of energy expended on a hike. Our only regret was not having binoculars – be sure to bring yours.

The cache is a 4" square Tupperware-like container with a rather tight-fitting lid. Please bring only small items to exchange. Note: the original picture shows the tree in which the cache is hidden to be standing. It has since toppled over, but it still hides the cache pretty well...

Following the directions provided for the cache, .2 mile before the cache parking area is the trailhead to the Nose of Looking Glass. With the proper training and equipment you too can pick your way up the nose.

Please keep in mind that animals have VERY sensitive noses, so please do NOT put food, candy, mints, or other scented items like candles or soaps into the cache. Animals smell it and think it is food.
