Geocache Description:

A Devil of a Walk in the woods of Hindhead. The cache needs you to be able to use the map supplied in conjunction with the GPS. It can be a bit muddy in the Winter as it was when we walked the route to hide the cache. The countryside is wonderful and before you go and on your return there is a lovely National trust cafe to relax in. Stating point is the National Trust Car Park in Hindhead, Surrey, on the A3.

A Devil of a Walk Ok people get yer walking boots on and yer GPS’s out. This Cache is a good three or four hours walk in wonderful Surrey countryside. For those that want to do it the easy way then a good look at your mapbook will show you where the minor road meets the main road but we aren’t going to help you on that one. You’ll see that I have included a cut from a map but I’m going to leave it to your GPS and map reading skills from there. Park at the car park indicated on the map at or around N 51 06.865 W 000 43.747, it’ll cost you about £1.50 or free if you are a member of the National Trust. Mark this car park in your GPS to ensure that it is easily found on your return as it can be easy to get disoriented in the woods. Get your walking boots on and some appropriate clothing for the weather. If you do the circular route as shown on the map then expect to be out about 4 hours otherwise about 3 if you return along the route you arrived on. Walk from the car to the view point at N 51 06.913 W 000 43.701 admire the view and then take a deep breath and prepare for a great walk thru rolling forested downs. Looking out at the view, turn left and follow the ridge path which is an obvious path. Using your GPS and the Map, with Cache coords in the the GPS it should be easy to see which paths you have to follow to get to the cache. The cache is in the dead land to the right of the track. When you have found the cache my advice is to continue the walk in its circle around the Punchbowl back up to the top eventually.
