When it's wet, it is muddy

The posted cords are NOT the cache location. The Cache is NOT in this lake. They are given to get you to the right island. As for the location of the cache, you must determine the correct cords on your own.

If you were to fly with a crow from the “Wake up and smell the Coffee” cache to the “Ammo Box” and then fly from the “UTM” to the “Mango Tango” cache, you would fly over the same spot twice. That is the spot you are looking to find. You only need to get close. Fill in the missing numbers to get the exact location: N21.__ __ 410, W –157. __ __ 841. Note that this is based on Old Hawaiian Datum and hddd.dddd*. One of these may help: www.topozone.com http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapbrowse-tbl http://www.epa.gov/enviro/html/em/index2.html

Lets talk a little about what you should find here. There is a great place to park, however, you are looking for a location on the other side of the road. To get to the other side of the road please go under it. To do otherwise will damage some plants and is less fun. You are looking for where the water exits. It is best to go when it as not rained for sometime. See photo for a little help.

Once you arrive at the correct location you will find a geocache field test in progress. You will also find lots of mosquitoes. Pull down on the gray ribbon to find the location of the final cache site. There are two back up caches here, they all contain the same information, so you only need to find one of the three. The back ups are small clear jars.

Finding the field test should be fine for the entire family. However, finding the final cache should only be attempted by the courageous and hardy. Getting there will take you to a spot overlooking the end of the road for tourists. In the past it has been the end of the road for many locals as well. History tells us that over 800 men died here in defending this island. A note in the cache will explain the history of a spot just above you.

I would suggest you go on a day when the sun is out, the view is better and you will return home cleaner. I had to hose myself off on my return, as I did not follow my own advice. Take a lunch, as there is a nice grassy area to sit and enjoy the view, near the cache site. No need to go near the edge and to go beyond the cache site takes more nerve and fewer brains than I have.

IMPORTANT NOTES: I have received feedback that people found themselves in a scary spot on the second leg of this cache. That should not happen. You will be climbing up a bank that can be slippery but you should NEVER be near the edge. Take a look at the photos for some help. On your way up you may see a trail that goes off to the left, there is a log across the trail, do not go that way even if it looks like a shortcut. You will find yourself crossing a log bridge on the way up. Near the end of the climb up you may notice a small steel wire that may help you go up but if you stay to the right you can use the trees. The first time you come out of the woods to see the view, you will be in a large grassy clearing.
