Geocache Description:

Devised 2/4/03 by TEAM SPOONHEAD. Location is approximately 25 miles NW of Boston. Inspired by geocaches GET CENTERED (Waldenrun) and A REVOLUTIONARY CONCEPT (BluEyz and Bugsy).

The coordinates above are for general reference only. They are a meaningless location within 10 miles of your first stop so you will have some idea of how far you will have to travel.

This is a combination multi-cache and virtual cache for a bad weather day in the northeast. It involves the use of the internet, then a visit to a warm, dry location, and then on to the final cache site for some verifying information which can be seen from inside your vehicle.

In the first part you will need to use your computer and your favorite search engine (Google?) to find the answers to some questions. The numbers you will find will give you the remaining digits to complete the coordinates to the first location.

A. How old was Harold “Red” Grange when his mother died?
B. What was the lowest temperature in the 50 year recorded history of Charleston, South Carolina? (NOTE: Wikipedia is incorrect!)
C. How many acrobats are in the Circus Fernando painting by Renoir?
D. What is the atomic number of the newest “element” discovered, administratium?
E. Which Henry became king of England at the end of the War of the Roses in 1485?
F. What is the number of the Beethoven symphony that is dedicated to the King of Prussia?
G. What is the product of the only two whole numbers in the quadratic formula?
H. On what day in May 1987 was the Mass Millions game introduced as part of the Massachusetts State Lottery?
I. According to the Buddhist religion, how many “characteristics of existence” are there?
J. How many stones is equal to 896 ounces?

Now plug these numbers into the following coordinates and into the number below:

N 42 3D. D B C

W 71 3J. F E A

Travel to this location. Go inside the red brick structure (M, T, Th 10-9, W, F 10-5, Sat. 10-4). and ask to use a computer. You will be doing an in-house search of their inventory. (This will make more sense when you get there). Enter the following number D D B B C I G H A I into the appropriate search field. You may have to think about the significance of this number - consider where you are! Ask a full-time employee for help.

Information will come up on the screen that indicates a well-known location in town. If you do not recognize it, ask one of the employees or search the internet. When you have it, proceed to the location to find the information needed to log the cache.

There is a sign at the entrance. Email me the full name of the founder and the first digit on the telephone pole across the street and I will verify your find. This is a very interesting place and you may want to come back with your family in season. Admission is charged.

If you are really stumped I will email the websites at your request but you must mention this fact in your log!
