Geocache Description:

Located on one of the most beautiful trails in Southern California. The area is known as the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve.

There is parking off Prospect Street, then it's down some stairs and just a short walk to the cache site. You'll be amazed at the breathtaking view of the coastline and the fragrance in the air. The area is especially colorful in the spring, when yellow daisies and other wildflowers bloom along the way.

At the given coordinates, look for a plaque. To get credit for this cache, please email me both the quote and the person's name on this plaque.

If you want, continue west down the trail to Sunny Jim's Cave. From inside an antique shop (formerly La Jolla Shell Shop), you can take a lighted underground stairway carved out of rock (built 1903) ending in a rocky cave overlooking the ocean. This stairway has 145 steps!

Then farther on down, there's the famous La Jolla Cove, one of the most photographed beaches in Southern California. This is a swimming and diving paradise, and the sea life is abundant.

Heading back and east of the cache site, the path leads to a grove with a cool wooden bridge.

Be careful of the cliffs along the trail, as there is no fence. And, this is a "Look But Don't Touch" area.

Feel free to attach your scenic pictures of this area (but not of the cache) with your log.

Enjoy your visit and Happy Hunting!
