Geocache Description:

Birders would appreciate this one. Bring your binoculars. It's a very rare, Blue Heron rookery. Note the nests in the trees and the fact that the trees are dead, supposedly as a result of years of Heron doots. In season, you can actually see Ma heron on the nests. Best time to visit is spring and early summer. Not much to see the rest of the year, other than the empty nests.

After visiting the rookery, there are trails in the area to explore. It's a birder's paradise. You'll see bluebirds, hummingbirds, blue herons, red tail hawks and a lot more!

This is in the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, so that's why its a virtual. To confirm your visit, go to the small shelter next to the viewing area. The shelter was built in memory of a naturalist. Send me an e-mail with his name and the year he was born. Do not place this info in your log, even if encrypted.
