A view west from Whitetail Butte over Priest River
Whitetail Butte rises suddenly from the surrounding lowlands of the Jack Pine Flats south of Priest Lake. The views from the top are great, especially given the relatively low elevation of the butte, but are even better from the road up. To the north and east, looking toward the Priest Lake basin, one sees the rugged granite outcroppings of the Selkirk Crest. To the south and west, Priest River winds its way past scenic farms and forests. The butte is a great place to have a picnic if the mosquitos don't interfere!
