In Sandpoint, at the north end of town is the Tourist Information Center. The cache is located here.
Formerly called the "COFFEE BREAK CACHE", this theme quickly became history along with almost all the other theme caches of this vintage.
The new name is added to celebrate the 4th birthday of this cache, February 8th, 2003!
12 caches were placed that day in and around Bonner County and today only 2 remain.
This cache is one of the oldest caches and has logged the most visits of all caches in Bonner County!
Please note that this cache has been moved, plundered, ransacked, vandalized, and of course muggled repeatedly over its short 4 years, but never stolen!
This alone is reason to celebrate!
It also boasts the fact that it still remains in its ORIGIONAL 50 cal. ammo can!
So, help celebrate by visiting or RE-VISITING the old Coffee Break Cache and new Cache Break!
Also note that if and when you find objects inside the ammo can that are not appropriate, please feel free to remove them! This one has a way of collecting some of the most bizzare and wierd items imaginable!!
It has a long list of contraband, some of which include; rocks, broken glass, tobacco products, personal hygene items, ammunition, knives, food, gum, candy, etc. etc.
The list goes on and on!
THANKS FOR AN INTERESTING 4 YEARS!!....THE MANAGEMENT.
This area has some interesting history. The Kiosk at the center used to be the footing for the old train trestle and was converted into a sign when the new bridge was built. The new bridge across Sand Creek was designed with access underneath for the "new" highway bypass over twenty years ago. You can watch the new bypass construction from here, but it might be awhile.
Note: As of July 26th 2005, this cache has been moved a few feet and the ratings upgraded to ease in the difficulty that people were having in going down and back up the steep and sometimes slick creek bank. Perhaps this will allow more people to log this cache. Hopefully it will not go missing.
There is a new clue also, but you really shouldn't need one!
2nd Note: I have read several logs recently that report that there are no travelbugs in the cache, although they are listed as being here.Typically this means that another cacher has recently taken the bug and has not yet returned home from vacation to log it out of this cache on the cache page.
This is a very active cache for travel bugs and I have yet to be informed of any that have gone missing.
Also, if you find a bug in this or any other cache that is not recorded on the cache page, it most likely was dropped off moments before you found it. Give the cacher who dropped it off time to log that information on the cache page before you log your find. This will save a lot of confusion.
