Welcome to Cortes Island! A place that can be often over looked, or just not even heard of. With that being said the island is home to about 1,000 people and there is a regular and funky daily ferry service to the island. You will be amazed by the incredible raw beauty of the island and its intricate coast lines. You will be hiking the Easter Bluff Trail which is one of the most popular and beautiful trails on Cortes. Over a thousand islanders and visitors hike this trail each year.
This is a short but intensive walk up to an amazing viewpoint of the Discovery Islands, Desolation Sound
and Cortes Bay. The hike, although less than half an hour, has some tricky sections and it easy to get confused. It is best done in the company of someone who has done it before; if you follow these directions they will help guide you, however you proceed at your own risk. The trail has some minor cliff sections that require dexterity and the grade is a good cardio vascular test.

To Reach the Trailhead:
The trail can be accessed from two directions. The shortest way from Potlatch Haven is to drive back towards Manson’s and turn right on Bartholomew Road. (Bartholomew Road is about 2.8 km from Potlatch Haven, just past the logged area on the right.) Follow Bartholomew Road for about 4.0 km through Cortes Bay and at the very summit of the hill the other side of Cortes Bay there is a small parking area on the right. You will know you are in the right place if you look up and see sign on a large fir saying “Easter Bluff”.
Also, as a side note (reminder) there are only six ferry sailings a day so you want to plan your day out accordinaly.
I have been one of the lucky people who were allowed to adopt one of the TEAM KFWB caches. Listed below is the original write up for the cache.

CACHE BEHIND BOULDER. BLUE DOT ON TOP OF BOULDER.
TEAM KFWB GPS HAD PLANNED THIS TO BE A COMPLEX CACHE, BUT AS IT WON'T QUALIFY UNDER THE NEW GUIDELINES, WE MADE IT INTO A SIMPLE 'GO TO'. WE HAVE SEVERAL REMAINING CACHES THAT WE WILL RELEASE IN THIS MANNER.
THERE IS A REMOTE POSSIBILITY THAT IN THE FUTURE GEOCACHING.COM WILL FIND A WAY TO MAKE THE MORE COMPLEX CACHES POSSIBLE, BUT UNTIL THEN WE MUST ABIDE BY THE EXISTING RULES.
HAVE FUN!

I thought for a sentimental and a historical point of view I would keep the original write up for the cache for anyone who would like to read it. As it stands right now the cache has not changed at all and it is still in its original position for a hidey spot.
Also here are a couple really good websites so you can get some information before you head up.

Also Couloir wrote a really interesting article about the trail and Kw'as Pak and I thought I will share it with everyone.

Congrats to Peregrine007 to getting the FTF!!!
