This virtual cache is even further south than the southernmost point marker in Key West.
On my trip to Key West, I was on a mission to find the southernmost point which could be accessed by foot without getting wet. I had heard rumor that the southernmost point marker was not, in fact, the southernmost point. This is true. The southernmost point of land in the continental US is on the Navy Base on the south end of Key West which is inaccessible. (It's visible from the southernmost point marker, to the west.)
This cache is the result of my mission. I hope others find this interesting as well.
As verification, describe the large painting at the site.
Note: I took coords from the far SW corner of the pavement, rather than using the coords on the plaque. This ensures that you'll not miss the verification fact if you have indeed found the right place.
