Welcome to one of the hidden treasures on this beautiful Island....so often overlooked by tourists. Quiet, peaceful and welcoming--- please be respectful of this special place. The building that is presently CAPTIVA CHAPEL BY-THE-SEA was originally constructed as a county school in 1901 but during the years it was a school it was also used for religious services. Not many of us will get to observe what is one of the treasured traditions of the Chapel, the Christmas Eve service, where each person attending is invited to hear the lessons of the Christmas story, sing Christmas carols, and light a candle outside to close the service with the singing of Silent Night. Since my main objective in placing this virtual is to get you to the Chapel grounds, no proof of your visit is required. You may post a picture or make a comment if you like. Just enjoy and respect the grounds.
