A hillside cache off scenic Skyline Drive in Rapid City, South Dakota.
The cache is downhill a short way off Skyline Drive. It is possible, I suppose, to climb up to it from below, but it would rate a 4 for the climb then. To come at it from the top would be a 3 or so. It is possible to walk level to it from the north directly off Skyline Drive. This would be the best way to avoid the garbage above it.
Rapid City is the city T was born in. We visit the area often and decided to leave a cache this time after picking up many of the plentiful caches scattered around the Black Hills of South Dakota.
All along Skyline Drive are views of Rapid City on each side of the road extending into the Black Hills to the west and the Badlands to the east. A scenic place to stop along the way for more open views is Dinosaur Park. The park has large size Dinosaurs roaming the hillside. There is a gift shop also.
On July 4th 2003, I was going to remove this cache because of the garbage complaints, but it was suggested to me to leave the cache in place and have people come to it with a garbage bag in hand. Then they can clean up the place a little, log in, and take home the bag of garbage while enjoying the view.
