This cache is placed in the Squam River Covered Bridge located just off Route 3 in Ashland, NH.
This cache is very near the geographic center of New Hampshire which would be at N43 43.000 W071 37.000 (N1CB's picture "Looking through the bridge" is looking directly towards the center of NH.
I was intending to place a cache there, but the location would have been behind a campground and in somebody's back yard. That wouldn't have been an appropriate location for a cache.
The Squam River Covered Bridge Cache is very easy to drive to and parking is close by. It is a very peaceful place in winter and quite scenic in summer and fall. The bridge was built in 1990 to replace a condemned concrete bridge. It spans the Squam River at the outlet of Little Squam Lake.
The cache is hidden in the bridge structure. Try not to get run over while looking for the cache and please be careful so you don't drop the cache in the river.
TRAVEL BUGS WILL NOT BE SAFE IN THIS CACHE!
Once again the cache has been ran-sacked by local kids. I refurnished it today (7/31/05) with a new container,new contents, and a new log. Sorry if anyone wasn't able to sign the log book because of it's condition.
If it gets messed up again I'm afraid it will have to be archived, or maybe converted to a virtual cache.
