Hangzhou's beautfiul West Lake is a great place to spend a day, or two, or many. It's said that there is no weather in which the lake looks bad, and it's true - during my stay I saw it in everything from bright sunlight to drizzly fog, and each time it had a different characteristic and a different scenic beauty.
This cache is hidden on an island in the lake, but a different one than the Three Pools virtual cache. See that page's description for information on how to access the islands from shore - depending on what way you choose, it can cost as little as Y35 round trip for both islands that are open to the public...not a bad deal.
The cache is a small Chinese tupperware-type container, with bilingual messages on the outside and a bilingual cache note/log sheet and a few misc items inside. We had to look pretty hard to find a spot that we think will survive both the hordes of visitors and the meticulous Chinese gardeners, but we think we found one. Make sure to bring your own pen to sign the log - the container was too small to fit one.
Because of its high-traffic location, detailed spoiler info is in the hints section. My original photos to go with the cache got accidentally trashed off my digicam, but laogai kindly took a lot of photos and emailed them to me. Thanks laogai! Oh yeah, good luck and enjoy your stay in Hangzhou!
