May 2019: Climbing the tree is now no longer possible. They have removed the spikes in the lower section. There are other trees you can still climb but you may need an all parks pass for parking or pay the parking fee with those options.
Note:YOU NO LONGER ARE ABLE TO CLIMB THE TREE… This cache is nearby the “Diamond tree” forest lookout. There is a small walking track heading away from the picnic area or you could drive along the gravel that leads off the passing road. If you do take the gravel option you can drive to within 10 meters of the cache with a reasonable clearance 2WD...if you are careful. There are still other trees in the area that you can climb. Generally paid parking though.
