Geocache Description:

Not your normal National Park.

This is a very unique and fascinating place that I love to visit. The sense of nostalgia here is palpable. It used to be an old amusement park that DC residents would trolley out to on the weekends. Now it’s been reimagined as a community arts center. The antique hand-carved and hand-painted carousel is beautiful and the old Spanish Ballroom where you can swing the night away is newly restored. I’d make this a real cache, but of course, you can’t on NPS land. BTW, I'm happy to add that the area has recently been featured in National Geographic and the cache was selected as the '03 Virtual Cache of the year by the Maryland Geocaching Society. To claim this cache, tell me what you would have been standing in at these coordinates 50 years ago.
