There is a dirt road with a good little hill to this cache. You can access by foot or Mountain bike. A nice walk from the Frog Pond Park.
You don't have to walk along roads to get to this cache, there are trails in the frog pond and Fort Ord. Please avoid walking along Hwy. 218, I don't think it's safe for kids and dogs.
As of February 14, 2011 the Cache has been moved and is now a full size (Ammo Can) cache.
A very nice view of the Frog Pond Park, Monterey Bay, and Fort Ord. not too many people go here. Someone has added a table and bench near the old cache so it’s a good place for a picnic or to watch the sunset.
If you’re from out of town you will wonder why it’s called "Moose View". It’s explained in the log book.
Have a seat and enjoy the view. Bring the dog and kids.
NOTE: 3-9-03 while walking in the area close to the cache I found a large doe that was freshly killed by a mountain lion, the kill was camouflaged in the classic lion way. So if you’re looking for caches in this area with small children or pets you may want to keep them at arm’s length. Other wildlife spotted near the cache include; Bobcat, coyote, badger, pigmy cotton tail rabbits, deer, red tail hawk, red shoulder hawk, turkey vulture, and more you can add to the list.
