Geocache Description:

This was the first cache placed in this city. Hope that it will serve as and introduction to geocaching. Parking may be a problem during normal working hours.

On March 3, 1849 a fort was established on this location overlooking the Rio Grande River. The fort is named after Lt. Col. James McIntosh, who died in 1847 . To recieve credit for a find email me the date that the Army discontinued use of this fort and identify the organizaton that is currently occupying the building you see as you look to your left while reading the Texas Historical Medalion. The cars parked in front of the verification building should have bubble gum machines mounted on top of them.
