Another one of those Oregon History Lesson stops. This is not a Beaver Board but it will
do until something better comes along.
This is a nice little park on a long drive from here to there, or back. If you need something to chew on or to drink, the Summer Lake Store has treats, food and fuel. The Summer Lake Rest area has picnic tables and Rest Rooms. And for an extra treat, head South on 31 to the Summer Lake Refuge Headquarters and check out what birds are in the area. Cry a tear or two for the next couple years when you look at Winter Rim and see what happens when a Fire is loose. Man, did that thing burn.
Anyway to find this cache, Stop and Read the sign at the above posted numbers and turn around and go 65 - 70 feet to the South side of the base of the Populus nigra L. “Italica”. - 290 degrees mag. from the 31 side of the sign. Your looking for a small round tin about eight (8) inches across and two (2) inches deep so please bring small items only.
I know this sounds simple but this cache hunt is as much about the Board as the cache. Please be careful when crossing the road to - from the “store”.
While sitting in the Rest Area or the drive to-from here, watch the Rim Sides and you should - could see Big Horn Sheep, Deer, Elk, Bear, Large Cats and soaring Eagles.
