Geocache Description:

Adjacent to East Coast Trail, approx 1 km SE of--and 150m higher than--the Logy Bay Ocean Sciences Centre.

The cache was originally hidden in the prominent stone-lined pit 20 to 40 m SW of the highest point in the area.

In 2001, this area was relatively unknown and rarely visited. With the growth of the East Coast Trail, this has changed, so that it is now quite a busy spot on a fine day. Such is the nature of 'progress'.

From the Lookout you can see a bald eagle's nest on the cliffs to the south (bring binoculars).

-----------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE Aug-06-2006: The cache has been refurbished. In the bottom of the pit you will now find NOTHING! The previous cache container was stolen :-( . Since the pit is too obvious a place--and prone to discovery by a casual hiker--I have hidden the new container some distance away. It is now on the ground in the middle of a small but prominent clump of trees. From the pit the container is 47m distant, on a bearing of 302 deg true. The coords of the container are 47°37.07' N, 52°39.26' W.

-----------------------------------------------------------

May be approached:
(a) starting from the parking lot of the Ocean Sciences Centre and climbing the hill to the South.

or (b) Along the East Coast Trail starting at Quidi Vidi or the DFO building and going North.
