Ghost Rails is an on-going series of caches dedicated to a time gone by. A time when the railroads were a major part of the lives of the people and communities of this great country. In many places, the railroads have disappeared. No longer needed, the tracks were removed, and the remnants neglected and forgotten. Ghost Rails will attempt to show you some of these places for a short history lesson and your caching enjoyment.
Thru the rolling hills of Walla Walla county, railroads could be found servicing the grain elevators of the area. One such line went from Wallula to Eureka. At Eureka, it split, with one line going towards Clyde and the other going to Walla Walla. Remnants of this line can be seen along Highway 124. At Harsha, it crossed the Touchet River and headed south to Walla Walla.
April 3, 2003; After a few no finds, we decided to check the coordinates. The cache was set up on a very rainey day. Please note the change and sorry for the inconvenience. One more hint: if you are not on the roadbed you are too far away.
Cache on, dudes!!
