Geocache Description:

A short walk to a hidden bridge and picnic spot.

We have visited here several times and it always so peaceful and tranquil that it is difficult to leave. We passed today while on the South Tyne Trail from Alston to Lambley. This is in the process of being improved, but the stretch from Knarsdale to Lambley is quite frankly a mess at the moment, but don't let that put you off as you will only have to pass over the trail.
There are several approaches to this one. From the main road there is parking for 2-3 cars next to a ladder stile. It is only 1/2 mile downhill from here.
There is evidence of people camping near the cache site but we have never seen anyone there.
There are deep pools in the river and some steep drops so take care if you have children. The cache is away from any drops in a sleepy little hollow.

*** The approach from Eals is no longer available as the (rather substantial) bridge has been washed away near to the cache in May 2013. Cache is still available from the west side of the river***

** New bridge now in place** Oct 2015
