Now that we are preparing to move out of the Bronx, SR has decided
that she wants to place a cache in commemoration of the few months that we have
lived here. So, we have created the "We were here geocache" - Morris Park, The
Bronx, USA. It is a micro cache, consisting of a log book, a business card sized
stash note, and business card sized finders certificates and a small log book. This is not a
traditional cache in the sense that you take something and leave something.
There is no room to take or leave something (except for Where's George dollars).
All we ask is that you sign the log and take a certificate of achievement/
finders certificate (one per team,
please!). Also included in the cache are a few of our new signature items, the
"I Love to Geocache NY" refrigerator magnets. please one per person/team (while
supplies last - we will replace as needed).
This cache can easily be visited via the #5
subway line. Its not hard to figure out what stop to get off on. It is only a
short walk from the stop.
The location of the cache is the Bronx and
Pehlam Greenway, a park that the Bronx and Pehlam Parkway runs through. It is a
very popular spot with local folks especially during the summer time. People
come here to run, eat, and people watch. The cache location is just a very short
walk from our home in the Bronx which we will soon be moving from to other parts
of NYC, specifics unknown at this time.
CAUTION: this park is
bordered by an active roadway (as are many parks in NYC). Although many people
visit this park you still need to take care when crossing the streets. CHILDREN
SHOULD BE SUPERVISED!
Parking should be ample on
the South side road or on a side street. If you choose to cross the road at a
location other then where there is a traffic control device (there are several
of these spots along the length of the park) you MUST DO SO CAREFULLY!
Paying attention is
important. As always, this is NYC, do not visit this area at night alone.
