I hope this one will be both a challenge and fun, it involves a little history, and a little math, mixed with one of my new camo techniques. :)
I stole the idea for this one from a cache I found a month or so ago. (Creeping Around Abingdon - by The_Curmudgeon) I enjoyed it very much and I hope you like this one as well.
Stage 1:
For the first part of this multi-cache go to the coordinates listed above. There you will find a Historical Marker. What are the dates that the battle took place? (Numerical Month, Days, Year)
__ __ / __ __ - __ __ / __ __ __ __
A**B / C**D - E**F / G**H**I**J
Now do a bit of adding and subtracting to get additional numbers for the coordinates to the next stage.
K = H - F __
L = I - C __
M = B + D __
Fill in the blanks with your new numbers to find the coordinates to stage two.
N36 5 K . L M 3
N36 5 __ . __ __ 3
W081 BM.DMM
W081 __ __ . __ __ __
Stage 2:
The coordinates that you deciphered in stage one should put you in front of a stone dedicated to two unknown soldiers. What is the year that the stone was erected?
__ __ __ __
P Q R S
T = Q - S ___
N3R S 0 . S R 8
N3__ __ 0 . __ __ 8
W08P 2 Q . 7 Q T
W08__ 2 __ . 7 __ __
Final Stage:
Now that you have the final coordinates you can head on to the cache. You may have to look close, it‘s camouflaged well. (I hope)
The Cache is a little bigger than your standard Micro.(It’s a new container I’m trying out) If you’d like to leave behind a small card, a marble, pin, etc…. there will probably be room, but not much! Feel free to take one of the oddball ink pens that are in the cache now.
Good Luck and enjoy!
