Bancroft Tower is a stone castle built in the year 1900 in honor of
George Bancroft. More information on it can be found here.
It is rather easy to find, as it is the tallest point in the area.
It offers a great view of downtown Worcester, and is a nice place
to just sit and watch the squirrels.
You can reach the top by car, or you can follow the trail up the
hill marked by blue blazes on the trees and rocks.
There is also a benchmark
located at the top of the tower, but the staircase is locked off
due to structural concerns.
The cache is located less than 25 feet from the road, but is not
visible from that side. It's knot that hard to find if you
don't go towards Crow Hill.
Contents when placed:
-- Log Book
-- Pencil
-- WPI keychain
-- Thermometer/compass card
-- Small geode
-- Bismuth crystals
-- Carved wooden cougar
Please make sure to carefully seal all the plastic bags, and
avoid placing sharp objects in the cache which could cause tears.
I'm not sure how waterproof the new plastic container is.
